DISA conducting market research to better understand the capabilities of Blockchain technology

The Defense Information Systems Agency is conducting market research to better understanding the capabilities available for Blockchain as a service technology, the agency announced.

Blockchain is a distributed ledger technology that allows data to be stored globally on thousands of servers. It is based on peer-to-peer networks and gained prominence with crypto currencies such as Bitcoin. Blockchain lets anyone on the network see everyone else’s entries in near real-time, which makes it difficult for one user to gain control of the network or attack it.

DISA wants to determine what industry products are available that provide a solution to enable DISA to provide a scalable permissioned Blockchain as a service which can be run on a mainframe environment.
