CDC is seeking a way to electronically verify vaccination records and test results for CDC personnel

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is seeking information about technology to electronically verify vaccination records and/or electronically verifiable test results for CDC personnel, the agency announced.

In addition, CDC wants to understand contractors’ ability to import information on CDC personnel, provided by CDC systems, which drive access requirements.

Responses are due October 4, 2021.

The CDC has a workforce of about 25,000 people globally. Most of these individuals will report to a CDC facility or other facility (e.g., labs, universities, health departments) requiring proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test.

There are different criteria based on staff type (e.g., federal employee, contractor). In addition, CDC travels staff to foreign and domestic locations to help with public health issues. Global travel requirements relating to COVID-19 are changing and depending on location, some countries are requiring COVID-19 electronic verifiable tests and/or vaccine proof for entry. Some facilities and countries have also adopted policies that require electronic verifiable vaccination proof in order to be exempt from quarantine.

Among other requests, the CDC wants vendors to specifically describe the logistical and practical methods for receipt, storage, and communication of data from CDC and partner systems (e.g., CDC occupational health medical records, 3rd partner COVID-19 testing lab, CDC access control). And describe the logistical and practical methods for receipt, storage, and communication of data supporting  electronically verifiable proof of COVID-19 test and/or vaccination from 3rd party providers (e.g., national pharmacy chains providing testing and vaccination, state immunization information systems, health systems providing authenticated data) related to CDC personnel.
