Library of Congress seeks virtual event platform provider for National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled conferencev

The Library of Congress needs a virtual event platform provider for a 2022 conference produced by the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, officials announced.

The conference is designed to inform the NLS’s network of cooperating libraries about all current and future products and services for blind and print disabled citizens..

The 2022 National Conference is scheduled to be held in Lincoln, Nebraska from May 15-19, 2022. The 2022 conference will be a hybrid conference, with in-person attendees and virtual/remote attendees. It will be Web Streamed live and remote attendees will be able to participate in discussions and conference sessions through a virtual platform accessible using screen reader software to ensure blind attendees can participate fully.

The NLS needs a virtual platform for the conference and is looking for proposals from industry. Submissions are due by July 13.

At the conference, librarians from all 50 states and U.S. territories meet to discuss issues concerning libraries that serve the blind and physically disabled community.

Attendees participate in training sessions developed and conducted by NLS’s technical experts; and learn about new and future products, technology, and initiatives in development at NLS.

The National Conference program enables librarians within the NLS network of libraries to engage in critical training on the use of new technologies to improve access and library services to NLS patrons.
