US Naval Academy to continue using Hack The Box Software under new contract agreement
The US Naval Academy will continue using software from Hack The Box LTD for the university’s Cyber Operations courses, according to a sole source announcement.
The contract is for software support for 120 Seats of Hack the Box from July 2021 to July 2022. The price of the contract is redacted.
The Naval Academy Department of Cyber Science Bachelor of Science Cyber Operations degree started in 2016 with 21 degree recipients, according to the Navy. By 2022 an anticipated 106 students will graduate with the degree.
The current academy system is a Hack The Box server. Continuing in the Hack The Box system is required because a separation would cause operability issues, which would result in unacceptable high cost challenges, the Navy stated.
According to the Hack The Box website, Hundreds of University professors utilize Hack The Box as a training resource for their students, turning static theory into dynamic practice. Dedicated labs and professional labs provide isolated environment hosted under hackthebox accessible only by the members assigned to it, the company states.
