Secure message software needed for Defense Department portal that lets patients securely get health care advice, request prescriptions and more
The Defense Department is seeking a secure messaging software tool for the Tricare Online Patient Portal to enable communications between patients and health-care providers, the DoD announced.
The messaging service must provide patients and providers a secure communication method to:
(1) ask non-emergency health care advice,
(2) request Prescription renewals, and
(3) receive MTF/Clinic updates and alerts within the patient portal.
Proposals are due May 20, and can be submitted HERE.
The secure messaging tool is asynchronous and provides both patients and care teams the opportunity to communicate at their convenience.
For the project, the contractor will provide all personnel, facilities, support and sustainment of the messaging capability.
The patient portal is an online patient-focused platform that provides eligible DOD beneficiaries and their families a convenient, personalized healthcare experience. It is a secure enterprise portal that uses Single Sign-On capability for access to care and population health management.
The asynchronous messaging capability provides an efficient, cost-effective method for patients to securely communicate with their health care team to seek non-emergency health care advice, request prescription renewals, and receive clinic updates and alerts.
Such communication can be used to provide patients with advice on lab and x-ray results, remind patients of needed preventive care, notify patients of needed follow-up of chronic diseases, educate patients about various topics, inform patients about available services, and provide direct care for non-urgent problems.
