DISA looks to contractors to create cloud infrastructure as code

The Defense Information Systems Agency’s Cloud Computing Program Office is seeking information from industry for services enabling the creation and management of a Cloud Infrastructure as Code effort, the agency announced.

The purpose of the project is for automating the environment configuration for multiple mission sets in one or more cloud environments, according to DISA.

The CCPO was established in 2018 for the purpose of administering the delivery of enterprise cloud services to the Department of Defense. As part of this mission, CCPO seeks an automated capability for a cloud infrastructure as code blueprinting to better control, configure, and exercise cloud resources across the DoD enterprise.

Currently, adoption of cloud services can take more than a year even after Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program and DISA provisional authorization. Significant effort remains to securely configure, deploy, and accredit cloud services for use, and there are no automated or templated tools to accelerate the process.

The CCPO anticipates a contract with either a one-year or six-month base period and a single one-year option period. Total value of the contract is anticipated to be less than $5 million.
